On the 24th, the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Shaanxi People's Government announced in Beijing that the world's first set of 10,000 tons of DMTO (methanol to produce low-carbon olefins) industrialized plant test was successful in Shaanxi. This technology is of great significance for reducing China's oil imports and maintaining national energy security.
This DMTO technology research and development is started in 2004 by scientific research, design and operation personnel. After two years of sincere cooperation, the experiment started in Shaanxi on February 20 this year, and the material was successfully obtained. The test successfully laid the technical foundation for the one-step amplification of the industrial test equipment from the 10,000-ton methanol processing capacity to the large-scale DMTO production unit of the million-ton class.
The person in charge said that the successful development of DMTO industrial technology has opened up a major way for the development of China's olefin industry, which is of great significance for reducing China's oil imports and maintaining national energy security. At present, the preliminary work of the annual processing of 3 million tons of methanol and its conversion of olefins by several companies has been fully carried out.
It has been estimated that ethylene propylene produced by DMTO technology is more competitive in the market than petroleum. Dozens of domestic and foreign companies have shown strong interest in this technology, and actively cooperate with the three parties to seek technology transfer. The technological achievements have shown broad market prospects.
It is understood that ethylene and propylene are the most important and largest chemical products in the world, and their production has always consumed a lot of oil. DMTO is a technology that uses ethylene or natural gas instead of petroleum as a raw material to produce ethylene and propylene.
