1. Apply coloring oil or tinting oil (This step is only necessary for projects that require a color change. It is not needed for standard construction work).
2. Brush on a protective varnish primer (If there's no previous step, this is the first one to start with). If you're using the original color, make sure the surface is clean and apply the primer immediately after purchasing the material. The primer can also be used as the top coat. The varnish finish must be done before painting the walls.
3. Remove dust and dirt from the wood surface.
4. Sand the board or wood surface with sandpaper.
5. Apply the first coat of paint.
6. Once dry, mix the toner, cooked rubber powder, and double fly powder to create a putty that matches the original color, then use it to fill in nails and knots.
7. After drying, gently sand the rough areas of the toner. This is a crucial step—make sure the surface is smooth and even.
8. Apply the second coat of paint.
9. Once dry, sand the surface again with sandpaper.
10. Apply the third coat of paint. (After each coat, lightly sand it with fine sandpaper. If a special primer is used, replace the first paint with the primer instead.)
11. Wipe the wood surface with a damp cloth, then sand it with sandpaper. This process is commonly called "water grinding."
12. Apply the final coat of paint.
In general, applying between 4 to 8 layers of paint will result in a high-quality finish. The more coats you apply, the better the outcome, but it's recommended not to exceed 10 layers to avoid unnecessary thickness or damage to the surface.
