A Detailed Guide to the Proper Use of NTN Bearings

Proper handling and maintenance of NTN bearings are crucial for ensuring their longevity and performance. Before disassembling or assembling a bearing, it is essential to clean it thoroughly to remove any dirt or debris that may cause damage. When pressing in a bearing, use a special tool to apply even pressure and avoid direct hammering, which can misalign or damage the internal components. If the bearing seat or housing hole becomes loose, it should be repaired or replaced rather than using temporary fixes like pitting or padding. When removing a bearing, always use a proper puller to avoid damaging the raceway or other parts. Avoid using chisels or hammers directly on the bearing, as this can lead to premature failure. Lubrication is another critical factor in the proper use of NTN bearings. Common lubricants include oil and grease. For low-speed applications (below 4–5 m/s), or when oil lubrication is not feasible, grease is often preferred. Grease offers advantages such as simple sealing, reduced leakage, and better resistance to temperature changes. However, it's important to use the right type of grease and apply it correctly. When using grease, follow the manufacturer’s recommendations regarding the brand and consistency. For example, some bearings, like those in automotive water pumps, should not use nano-grease due to poor water resistance. Overfilling the bearing with grease can increase internal friction and cause overheating, so only fill about half to two-thirds of the bearing cavity. In the case of wheel bearings, a "dry hub" method is recommended—apply a thin layer of grease without overfilling, as excess grease can interfere with braking performance. For oil lubrication, ensure the old oil is drained and the system is cleaned before adding new oil. The oil level should be maintained at the correct mark, and if necessary, flush the system according to the vehicle’s specifications. Common issues with NTN bearings include excessive heat and abnormal noise during operation. If the bearing feels unusually hot to the touch, it could indicate problems such as incorrect lubrication, tight fit, or excessive load. Similarly, unusual noises like grinding, knocking, or vibration may signal wear, misalignment, or damage to the bearing components. Bearing failures can also occur due to various factors, including fatigue, overheating, plastic deformation, cracks, cage damage, or contamination. Fatigue typically results from repeated stress cycles, while overheating may stem from insufficient lubrication or improper installation. Plastic deformation happens under heavy static or impact loads, and cracks may develop due to tight fits or poor housing design. Regular inspection and proper maintenance are key to preventing these issues. Always check for signs of wear, such as metal flaking, uneven surfaces, or excessive clearance. If you notice any of these symptoms, replace the bearing promptly to avoid further damage to the machinery. By following these guidelines, users can significantly extend the life of NTN bearings and ensure optimal performance in their applications.

Chemical Industry Mass Flow Meter

Sealand is a professional supplier of Chemical Mass Flow Meter, Chemical Mass Flowmeter, Chemical Flowmeter, Chemical Flow Meter, Chemical Coriolis Meter, ATEX, IECEx & CE approved.

The meter can work with a pulse receiver(Count). The connection is as follows. The resistance value is up to the cable length & the max. input pulse frequency of receiver. Current 10mA is suitable for most receivers; however, you can reduce the resistance value when the cable is long. The max. current could be 50mA. Please use the fixed frequency output function to check if the cable length & resistance value is suitable.

Please check following items before operation, and operate according to relevant rules. a) If the meter is damaged during shipment and installation;
b) If the voltage is same as marked on nameplate;
c) If the fuse is correct;

d) If the meter is grounded properly.
e) If the Meter SN on the nameplate of sensor and transmitter are the same.
If everything is fine, please open all valves, make the pipeline full of liquid and then power on the meter for warm-up for 20min before operation. Finally, conduct zero calibration after first start, and shall do it again if the meter is moved to another site.
Preparation for zero calibration:
a) Power on the meter for approximately 20min for warm-up;
b) Run the process fluid through the sensor until the sensor temperature reaches the normal process operating temperature.
c) Close the shutoff valve downstream from the sensor.
d) Ensure that the sensor is filled with fluid and the process flow has completely stopped.
