Cotton aphids, commonly referred to as greasy insects or oil and sweat pests, are a serious threat to cotton crops. These pests feed on the sap of cotton plants, primarily clustering on the underside of leaves and tender shoots. Their feeding activity damages plant cells, leading to curled leaves, stunted growth, and the secretion of honeydew. This sticky residue promotes the growth of mold, which interferes with photosynthesis and reduces crop yield. Prompt application of **pesticides** is essential to manage infestations effectively.
The life cycle of cotton aphids typically begins in mid-May to mid-June in nurseries, followed by another generation from mid-July to mid-August. They can reproduce up to 10–20 times per year. In recent years, cotton aphids have become one of the most significant pests in China’s major cotton-growing regions, causing considerable damage to production.
For effective management, specific control thresholds should be monitored. During the seedling stage, if 5–10% of true leaves show rolling, or if there are 100–300 aphids per plant, action is needed. When the number reaches 2,000–4,000, immediate intervention is required. For the bud stage, a coiled leaf rate of 20–30% or 10,000 aphids per 100 plants indicates the need for control. During flowering and bolling periods, more than 13,000 aphids per 100 plants, along with oil spots on middle leaves exceeding 3%, signal an outbreak.
Chemical control measures include using insecticides such as Xi'an Dingsheng's Red Scorpion 30% Acetamiprid, diluted at 8,000–10,000 times for spraying, or 2,000–3,000 times for drenching. If resistance is high, mixing Red Scorpion at 10,000 times with Bright Sword 20% WDG at 1,000–1,500 times has shown excellent results. This combination not only controls aphids but also helps manage other pests like spider mites and bollworms. Pairing this with Xi'an Ruite’s multi-foliar fertilizer can enhance plant growth, improve cotton quality, and increase yield. Always follow safety guidelines when applying pesticides to ensure both effectiveness and environmental protection.
Set accelerator makes sure of early strength development for fast setting mortar or increase the early strength for cement based mortar. Lithium carbonate and lithium sulphate are good high purity accelerator for the cementitous mortar system based on calicum aluminate cement. Calcium formate is reactive with ordinary portland cement to improve the early strength in various applications such as ceramic tile adhesive, base coat, plaster and render etc.
