Beijing will cultivate new varieties of genetically modified crops

Genetically modified insect-resistant cotton, resistant to stored tomatoes, petunia that changed storage colors, anti-virus sweet peppers... Recently, Beijing Academy of Agricultural Sciences declared at the Beijing Municipal Academy of Agriculture and Forestry that “Beijing New Transgenic Crop Breeding Project Promotion Conference” was held. Beijing will increase investment in scientific research for genetically modified agriculture. The project of “selection and breeding of new varieties of genetically modified crops” will be officially launched. Beijing will develop modern urban agriculture based on circular agriculture, leisure agriculture, and scientific and technological agriculture, and Beijing citizens will enjoy more. Good quality crops.
In 2006, the State Council’s "Outline for the Medium and Long-Term Scientific and Technological Development Plan for the State," the 16 major strategically significant special projects, "breeding new species of genetically modified organisms" is the only one related to agriculture. Agriculture in Beijing requires modern agricultural biotechnology to provide strong scientific and technological support. Modern agricultural biotechnology represented by transgenic technology has injected new vitality into the development of modern agriculture. At present, the Beijing Academy of Agricultural Sciences is actively conducting research on biotechnology and using genetically modified means to innovate and cultivate new crops that are drought- and water-saving. They cultivate genetically modified wheat and corn and other genetically modified food crops that are resistant to drought and salt, and genetically cultivate pest-resistant varieties of fruits and vegetables. These achievements will reduce the ecological pollution caused by the use of pesticides and eliminate them. The food safety problems caused by pesticide residues provide innovative vitality for the basic research of agricultural biotechnology in Beijing.
