The SCAR markers scar~195 (2.6cM) and scar~111 (2.4cM) of two "consistent" disease resistant head smut genes were obtained on maize chromosomes 2 and 3, and the neighboring SSR markers of QTL against maize sheath blight were obtained. Umc1245 (0.01 to 5.89 cM), the QTL-adjacent markers for apical rot on chromosomes 6 and 9 are aggcaa675 and acactt825.
