American study says salty people tend to gain weight

do you know? The fat on your body may be the cause of excessive salt. According to a report by the US "Fox News Network" on February 13, a new study in the United States shows that people who "taste heavy" (high-salt diet habits) are more likely to gain weight.

In the new study, Zhu Haidong, Ph.D., a specialist in molecular genetics at the Institute of Public and Preventive Health at Regents University in Georgia, and colleagues conducted a study of 766 healthy adolescents. Of these participants, 97% of the daily intake of sodium exceeded the 1500 mg daily intake recommended by the American Heart Association. The researchers adjusted the diet of the participants and found that those with higher sodium intake had higher fat and leptin levels. Leptin is a hormone that suppresses appetite and promotes fat metabolism. Once it is high, it will have the opposite effect and lead to obesity. After excluding the level of physical activity, food and sugar-sweetened beverage intake, the correlation between taste and body weight persists.

The new study also found that immune cells secreted by taste-heavy subjects also have higher levels of tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α, indicating that they have more inflammation in the body and are more susceptible to autoimmune diseases such as arthritis.

Dr. Zhu analysis pointed out that the high-salt eating habit itself is related to the promotion of fat cells to become large, stimulate the brain feeding center and lead to excessive diet and obesity. The results of this new study show that by reducing sodium intake, many people are entirely likely to lose weight successfully. In order to prevent the body from becoming fat, Dr. Zhu suggested that he should not take the initiative to give food more salt, eat more fresh fruits and vegetables, and eat less French fries, processed meat, or salty snacks. The study found that 75% of people's dietary sodium comes from processed foods and fast foods.
