New method converts marine biological waste into high-performance zinc-manganese batteries

Recently, the team of Professor Lu Canhui from the Institute of Polymer Research of Sichuan University and the State Key Laboratory of Polymer Materials Engineering proposed a method to convert biomass waste floating on the sea into high-performance zinc-manganese batteries, and combine the prepared zinc-manganese batteries with The flexible solar film is combined and integrated into a self-powered wearable system. Related papers have been published in "Journal of Materials Chemistry A".

Studies have shown that the multi-level channel structure inside the electrode material is beneficial to increase the loading of electrochemically active substances, and can promote the diffusion of electrolyte and the transport of ions. The prepared Zn-MnO2 battery has excellent energy storage capacity, good rate performance and cycle stability, especially the use safety performance is very good, the battery can still work normally after being damaged by various external forces.

By further combining with the flexible solar film, the researchers also constructed a self-powered energy bar and verified the application potential of the self-powered system in wearable and portable electronic products. (Li Huiyu)
