Mexico issued a water pump and pump energy efficiency testing methods

Mexico's Ministry of Energy has released the official draft standard PROY-NOM-004-ENER-2005 on the limits and methods for measuring the energy efficiency of clean water pumps and electric pumps rated at 0.187 kW to 0.746 kW. The draft stipulates the minimum level of energy efficiency and the highest level of energy consumption, as well as the conformity inspection methods, for domestic water pumps and electric pumps (using single-phase squirrel-cage induction motors) respectively. There is also a requirement for public information labels. This draft official standard applies to domestic pumps sold in Mexico, rated at 0.187 kW to 0.746 kW and electric pumps using single-phase squirrel-cage induction motors. The following types of pumps and pumps are excluded from the scope of this standard: (a) Decorative fountain pumps; (b) Fire pumps; (c) Water massage pumps; (d) Injection (injection) pumps; (F) Solid treatment pumps (surface or submersible); (g) Spray pumps; (h) Bilge pumps;
