From private workshops to international chains, the Chinese furniture industry has been in the wind and rain for 60 years.

From small to small troubles to chain operations, from advocating practicality to pursuing quality, the Chinese people's home life is booming and the Chinese furniture industry is maturing.
Today, we have traced the evolution of the home furnishing industry through the retrospective development of the furniture industry for 60 years, and witnessed the fruitful achievements of the economy in the 60 years since the founding of the new China.
[1949-1952] In the early days of the liberation of the private workshops of the former shop and the factory, the furniture of the majority of the households was uploaded by the ancestors, and it was rare to make furniture.
At that time, the furniture industry was a single workshop-style production method. In front of a small facade, finished products or semi-finished products such as tables and benches were placed inside. Behind it is the place where it is made. Some woodworkers do business while doing business. The woodworkers who were unemployed before liberation were free to combine and take photos around themselves.
[1952 - 1957] Going on the road of cooperation Since 1952, individual handicraft workers have embarked on a cooperative road, and many wood cooperatives have been established at this time. By 1956-1957, cooperation had reached a climax.
[1958-1965] Woodworking cooperative workers sharply reduced
After the "people's commune" in 1958, the wood industry in the village was decentralized to the rural commune. A large number of people in the urban wood factory were transferred to support the large industry. Many furniture factories were diverted to work, and the output of furniture decreased year by year.
In 1961, the nature of the handicraft management institutions and the collective ownership of enterprises was restored, and the reorganization of the transferred employees was returned to the team, and the furniture production was restored.
By 1965, the wood processing cooperatives had gradually recovered, and the variety of furniture colors was still greatly reduced.
[1966-1977] The "Cultural Revolution" hit the sharp decline in the output of the furniture industry, which was hit hard by the "Cultural Revolution". The production of the furniture industry was also difficult to escape. The output dropped sharply, and the supply of furniture was difficult to meet the needs of ordinary people.
In 1973, the annual output of furniture plummeted. As it could not meet the needs of the market, it was necessary to adopt the method of marriage and ticket supply to protect the minimum needs of people's lives. At that time, the difficulty of finding a furniture ticket and the joy of getting a furniture ticket became a memorable memory.
[1978-1988] Handmade steering semi-mechanized
In 1978, the furniture production plan and raw material supply were included in the planning agenda of the Ministry of Light Industry, which brought about a certain degree of restoration and development of furniture production. During the decade from 1978 to 1988, the furniture industry entered a transition period from a planned economy to a market economy, which has undergone tremendous changes.
Since the late 1980s, furniture companies have introduced a large number of advanced plate and solid wood furniture production equipment from Germany, Italy, Japan and other countries, which has enabled furniture companies to move toward mechanization and automated production, and promote product style renewal and quality improvement. The production of furniture has increased significantly.
[1989-1991] In the 10 years of the first trough reform and opening up, large and small furniture companies have emerged and competition has intensified. By 1989, the furniture market was weak, and the product began to have a backlog. The furniture industry showed negative growth for the first time after ten years of steady development.
In 1990, after 1989, there was a second negative growth, some furniture companies suffered losses, some enterprises changed production, and some were merged.
Around 1991, some department stores began to have furniture counters in the basement and podium, and some companies actively promoted products to the market. At the same time, the domestic building materials and home furnishing market began to take off, but the market scale is small, and the products are mainly made of domestic building materials.
[1992-2000] Furniture Professional Market Shows Dew
In 1992, the furniture market began to recover, and the furniture industry gradually stepped out of the trough, and production rebounded.
Beginning in 1994, the National Furniture Fair began, the first year was in Wuxi, and in 1995 it moved to Hangzhou.
Since then, the furniture industry has accelerated the process of transition to a market economy, and a variety of furniture stores and furniture stores have sprung up everywhere. Since the mid-1990s, due to the great attraction of the Chinese furniture market and the labor market, Italy, Germany, France, Denmark, Spain, the United States, Singapore, Malaysia and other countries have invested in furniture factories and furniture stores in China, which has promoted the furniture market in China. The competition has driven the export of domestic enterprises. In the late 1990s, furniture in our province began to be exported to countries such as Europe and the United States.
[2000-present] The furniture professional market began to be subdivided
In 2000, the traditional stall furniture market was very common, and people began to order integrated furniture. By around 2003, furniture stores opened on the second-grade trunk roads of commercial streets. The professional market began to be subdivided, and there were markets such as the bathroom market, doors and windows, and furniture.
Since 2006, the theme-style home plaza, building materials chain supermarkets frequently rushed to the beach in Hangzhou, the volume of these stores is getting bigger and bigger, more and more brands, international chain home supermarkets have begun to enter the domestic market. In the past five years, the pace of integration of China's furniture products into economic globalization has accelerated. Last year, furniture exports reached US$5.57 billion, rising at a rate of 28% per year.
