For the first time, the superconducting tokamak (EAST) experiment adopts a structure driven by a built-in electromagnetic pump to drive the liquid lithium from the collecting box to the distribution box, and then flows back from the limiting surface to the collecting box under the action of gravity to realize the circulation of liquid lithium. use. Experiments have shown that flowing liquid lithium can have good compatibility with highly constrained plasmas and can further reduce hydrogen isotope recycling and impurity levels on the basis of lithiated walls; ionization, transport, and accumulation of lithium at the plasma boundary. Effective shielding of plasma particles and heat flow can be achieved. The study confirms for the first time the "feasibility of using a liquid lithium stream that can be continuously used for several hours in a fusion device." It also confirms that the liquid lithium first wall can not only avoid the solid first wall. Impurity radiation, limited life, and other problems, and can improve the plasma confinement to a certain extent. This circulating liquid lithium structure can provide a fresh and clean first wall environment for the long pulse plasma discharge of the fusion device.

The first successful liquid lithium limiter experiment on the EAST device was the first exploration of flowing liquid lithium as a surface wall material technology on a large-scale fusion device.
