HyperSolar develops long-life solar hydrogen generator

According to foreign media reports: HyperSolar announced that the stability test of its proprietary fully integrated hydrogen plant has been successful. Before the performance decline, the effective working time of the equipment exceeded 365 hours. The design of the equipment will serve as the basis for the company's first generation of commercial renewable hydrogen generators.

HyperSolar began to test the equipment by simulating sunlight in April 2018, demonstrated more than 100 hours of stable hydrogen production, and quickly achieved 294 hours of stable operation under the peak sunshine in May 2018. In June, HyperSolar reached the goal of 365 hours of stable operation, and this goal was completed in the hot summer, which proved the high temperature resistance of the equipment.

HyperSolar's goal is more than 1000 hours of stable operation, which means that the life of the catalyst needs more than 6 months, and the test needs to be completed in California with peak sunlight for up to 5 hours. The life of batteries and catalysts is directly related to economics. The extension of life will greatly reduce the cost of hydrogen production.

Due to the low cost of a-Si solar cells, many pioneers in the field of hydrogen energy have tried to use them in solar hydrogen systems, but failed to achieve long-term stability in independent solar water splitting devices.
