How is the computer password set?

[ Huaqiang Security Network News ]
For Windows XP, there are three ways to set the power-on password, namely the system user password, the system startup password, and the BIOS password. The setting methods are as follows:
How to set the computer password First, the method of setting the user password in the system:
Start → Control Panel → User Accounts → select your account → create a password → enter the password twice → press the “Create Password” button.
If you want to cancel the password, just press Enter when you need to enter a new password in step 2.
How to set the computer password Second, the method to set the startup password in the system:
In addition to setting the “user password” in the user account of the control panel to ensure system security, Windows XP also provides a more secure and effective “system startup password”. This password is displayed before the “user password” when booting. It can also generate a key disk. If you set the "system startup password", the system is more secure. The way Windows XP sets the "system startup password" is as follows:
Click "Start" "Run", enter "Syskey" in the "Run" dialog box (do not enter the quotation marks), press "OK" or press Enter, the "Protect Windows XP Account Database Security" dialog box pops up, in the dialog box Click the "Update" button, the "Start Password" dialog box will pop up, select the "Password Startup" option, enter the password for the system startup below, and press the "OK" button.
To cancel the "Startup Password" of this system, select "Password Generated by System" in the "Startup Password" dialog box after the above operation, and then select "Save startup password on this machine" below, and then confirm the startup password. It will be saved to the hard disk, and the window for starting the password will not appear the next time you start it.
The “Startup Password” is displayed before the login screen appears. The login screen will be displayed only after the correct startup password is entered. The user can enter the user name and login password to log in to the system. In this way, the system has double password protection.
How to set the computer password? 3. How to set the password in the BIOS (different machines are different):
1. Press the Del key to enter the CMOS settings, move the cursor to “Advanced BIOS Features”, press the “Advanced BIOS Features” page, and find “Security Option” or “Password Check”. (Check password mode)", set it to "System" (Note: This item has two settings System and Setup, set to System, boot into CMOS settings and enter the operating system to enter a password; settings To set the password to enter the CMOS setting for Setup, enter the password), press the Esc key to return to the main page;
2. On the main page, move the cursor to “Set Supervisor Password” and enter the password in the window that appears. Press Enter. In the window that appears, enter the same password again and press Enter. CMOS will return. Record the password and return to the main page.
3. Move the cursor to “Save & Exit” on the main page, press Y, then press Enter.
In step 2, select “Set User Password” to set the user password. The difference between the user password and the super administrator password is: the user password can be used to enter the CMOS settings and can only be viewed and cannot be modified.
Among the above three passwords, the system startup password has the highest security, the user password is second, and the BIOS password has the lowest security. The BIOS password can be eliminated by removing the battery on the motherboard; the user password can also find many cracking methods on the Internet; however, it is difficult to find the cracking method for the startup password. It is recommended to set the startup password and user password at the same time, so there is double password protection, not only to enter the password when booting, but also to temporarily lock by pressing the Windows logo key (the key between Ctrl and Alt) and the letter L key. Computer (when locked, the computer returns to the login screen, you must enter the user password to return to the system for normal operation), making it unusable for others.
