30% Teflon WP, also known as fluconazole, is an imidazole-based fungicide. It is a broad-spectrum systemic fungicide that offers both preventive and curative effects. This product is effective in controlling various fungal diseases such as powdery mildew and rust on vegetables like cucumbers, tomatoes, and strawberries. It is especially useful for managing pathogens that have developed resistance to other fungicides.
The product has several key features: it acts quickly and provides long-lasting residual effects, ensuring sustained protection against fungal infections. Its strong penetration allows it to reach deep into plant tissues, while its rain-resistant formulation ensures effectiveness even after precipitation. It can be used for regular spraying as a preventive measure or during the early stages of disease outbreaks to stop the spread. Additionally, it can kill fungi that have already invaded the plant. It is compatible with most insecticides and acaricides, making it a versatile choice for integrated pest management.
In vegetable production, 30% Teflon WP is widely used for the control of powdery mildew. For example, when applied at a dilution of 1500–2000 times, it effectively controls powdery mildew on cucumbers, bitter gourds, pumpkins, and tomatoes. For zucchini, a 2000–3000 times dilution is recommended at the early stage of infection. Similarly, cowpea powdery mildew can be controlled by spraying a 2000 times solution. To prevent onion powdery mildew, a 1500 times dilution is advised. For pea powdery mildew, a 5000 times solution is suitable during the early phase of the disease. For cowpea rust, a 2000 times solution is recommended. Corn gray spot disease can be managed with a 5000–7000 times dilution at the onset of symptoms.
When using 30% Teflon WP, it's important to follow best practices. Begin spraying at the first sign of disease, and repeat every 10 days if necessary, applying 2–3 times in total. It is best to spray in the morning or evening when temperatures are cooler and there is no wind. Avoid spraying between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM on sunny days. If the temperature exceeds 28°C, relative humidity is below 65%, or wind speed is over 4 meters per second, it’s advisable to delay application. The pre-harvest interval is 2 days, and the maximum number of applications per season should not exceed 2. Avoid mixing it with chlorpyrifos, and alternate with other fungicides that have different modes of action. Finally, do not dispose of leftover pesticide or containers in water bodies such as rice paddies, lakes, rivers, or fish ponds. Always handle and dispose of empty containers responsibly.
